You’re receiving this message as a valued customer of Republic Services, Inc. With the present inclement weather conditions, we would like to inform you that our Fairfax office and operations are closed today. With the storm coming faster and worse than expected bringing snow and ice, and with safety at the forefront for our employees and the community alike, closing was the right thing to do. Expectations for service will resume on the next regularly scheduled day. 
 
As we work through the issues and concerns of the storm, a few best practices are:
 

• cleanly plow/shovel/clear all access paths where trucks pass or would need access to (plow snow/ice to the curb)
• salt/sand driveways/walkways, hills, cul-de-sacs and roadways down to the asphalt
• customers with carts, please put these out on the cleanly plowed/shoveled access paths which have the salt/sand- even out on the roadways as applicable.
  
• Customers with enclosures, please make sure that doors are completely wide-open with the doors locked in pin-systems and so that our trucks can access the containers (enclosure doors are subject to freezing making it impossible to open and interrupt service)

*NOTE: be mindful of the shaded areas, as these tend to take much longer to clean/clear of all snow and ice.
